Spili village
Spili is the seat of the municipality Lambis. It is located in the heart of the prefecture of Rethymno, 27km from Rethymno city and 25km from the southern coast (eg Agia Galini, Plakias). Its average altitude is 430m and it covers an area of 16km2.
This traditional village is built on a semi-mountainous location, on the foot of Vorizis mountain (930m). The name Vorizis derives from the Geek words voria and riza which mean north and root respectively, because the mountain is the northern extension of the mountain Kedros.
Spili village - along with its neighbouring settlement Dariviana - has got 600 habitants.
